A letter from Asia

To new and old friends alike,

I built rtrn outdoors to assist everyone’s journey back into nature. Why does it feel like the outdoors is an exclusive club that favors the rich? Hiking gear can be expensive and confusingly technical. Resources are endless. Consumerism ensures that you always feel unprepared.

As a city girl turned granola, I’m here to give it to you straight and easy. Because everyone should feel safe and comfortable when returning to nature.

Here’s a picture from my first solo hike. A 7-mile loop soon turned into 15 miles when I missed my turn. Lost and unshaded, I thought I was going to have to climb down Laguna Hills and call an Uber back to my car.

But amongst the dehydration, I had never experienced such a peace. Nature has its own rhythm, and it continues on whether you’re there or not. So albeit unprepared, I continued to chase that high.

I expect a lot of ebbs, flows, and learning. So please share your feedback as I continue to grow.

Happy exploring,
Asia
